Matria Burgos

Raquel López Tamames

Certified Nursing Assistant and Maternity Consultant

I am a Nursing Care Technician, breastfeeding and sleep advisor, and CPR instructor, as well as a mother of four and the founder of Matria , a family support space where professional expertise meets compassionate care.

I bring both heart and expertise to my work. My approach is professional yet deeply human. I truly believe that families need support, especially in those early years when everything can feel unsteady. And I am here to provide it.

I combine my work at the University Hospital of Burgos in the medical oncology ward with this heartfelt project: supporting women and families at the start of a new life. At the hospital, I witness endings; at Matria, beginnings. This contrast deeply balances me and reminds me daily of what truly matters: being present, listening, and caring with all your heart.

With over 15 years of experience supporting families and having personally lived motherhood with my four children, I continue to learn, grow, and develop. This journey is one that never truly ends.

Matria emerged from a heartfelt wish to support those who nurture. After all, no one should face parenthood alone.

Carmen Enrique Arias

NURSE, IBCLC

I am a nurse and a mother.

Becoming a mother taught me that theory alone isn’t enough: books couldn’t answer my questions, and my training didn’t fully prepare me for what I was going through. What truly held me up were other women, mothers like me, sharing their experience and support. That’s where my journey began.

For more than twenty years, I have specialized in breastfeeding, earning my International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) credential in 2011. By continually updating my training, I am able to offer current, safe, and professional guidance to families.

I spent eight years working in the obstetrics and postpartum ward at the Hospital of Burgos, supporting mothers in their first days. Since 2003, I have been actively involved in breastfeeding support groups, accompanying families through every stage, from the very first feeding to the weaning process.

Beyond one-on-one support, I deliver talks and courses, and take part in workshops and educational events, sharing breastfeeding knowledge with healthcare professionals, students, and families.

Matria provides a space where I bring together personal and professional experience to accompany women who want to breastfeed, with respect, attentive listening, and shared wisdom.

Working alongside Raquel, with whom I share the same values and vision, makes this project even more meaningful.
